Understanding Common Sleep Problems

Poor sleep can negatively impact your mood, activity level, and relationships and can lead to fatigue, reduced job performance, and increase risk for accidents.

A number of factors, such as variable shift work, substance use, exposure to trauma, chronic pain, illness, high stress levels, grief and loss, a sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition, and an uncomfortable sleep environment, can all contribute to poor sleep quality and duration. Common sleep problems include:

  • sleep deprivation

  • trouble falling asleep

  • trouble staying asleep

  • nightmares

  • snoring

  • restless legs

  • unusual behaviors, such as walking, talking, falling out of bed, and more.

If you suspect that you may have a sleep problem, discuss your symptoms with your provider, who can help you identify the difficulties you are having with sleep and coordinate appropriate care. T initiate care with The Ridge, Contact us today!
